David Byers

David worked for FedEx as a package handler in college.  He worked his way up to lead & switcher in just a short time.  In 2006 he was asked by a friend to come work as a driver during the peak delivery season in a rural area in Northeast Ohio.  One year later, David invested in his own route and started Slicker Trucking.  Slicker Trucking operates in Northeast Ohio both in Pick-up & Delivery AND Linehaul divisions managing over 175 delivery areas each day.  His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the business and his employees is based on Honesty, Integrity and Commitment to People.  On any given day you will still find David under a truck fixing headlights, shuttling trucks or running a route.  He is as hands on today as he was in the beginning. It's in his heart to always do whats best. He often says "I have to make sure any decision I make and any conversation I have reflects what I would want my young sons to see in me." And that rings more true today as his sons, Aren & Brenden, have recently taken on lead jumper roles while attending college. In 2020, David won Central District Entrepreneur of the Year for PD & Linehaul Divisions AND Regional Entrepreneur of the Year for P&D Division!

Amy Byers

Amy has watched the growth of Slicker Trucking unfold since David was a single van contractor.  David had a vision in 2007.  In 2017, Amy formally joined the Slicker Trucking team full time.  Watching over finances, employees, and overall operation efficiency.  Amy implemented employee benefits and streamlined procedures that now provide a welcoming & family approach to business which gets Slicker Trucking back to what David started many years ago. Today, Amy serves as Chief Operating Officer over 3 divisions of business (P&D (Ground & Express), Linehaul, Custom Critical) 7 Terminals, 180 Full-time and Part-Time employees, and a fleet of 175 vehicles.

Rusty Cerveny

Rusty started with Slicker Trucking as a Driver and showed a proven dedication to safety and training.  Rusty was a former business owner and understands the importance of teamwork, safety and performance.    Rusty oversees our local teams to manage our fleet operations teams, safety programs, safety meetings, management needs, truck maintenance and DOT compliance for P&D.  Rusty quickly became a liaison for Slicker and go-to for FedEx management. His ability to relate safety in a compassionate and fair manner sets Rusty up for long term success with Slicker Trucking. Rusty is the General Manager of both LH & P&D and is taking his expertise and knowledge to the streets!

Adam Dennis

Adam is a former FedEx contractor and Slicker Team member. His expertise and knowledge of P&D business operations, FedEx protocols, and our Slicker Culture has put him in a position to set us for absolute Success. Adam’s fair and determined approach to daily tasks and long term projects is what Slicker needed to take the operation to the next level! Adam will be focused on bringing the culture, vision and attention to detail to each terminal.

Mike Tackovich

Mike “Tack” also started with Slicker Trucking as a Driver. Mike has been in many routes and before moving into management was a contingency area driver. Mike would go to terminals near & far to help identify problems and quickly jump in to clean up backlog. His ability to stay positive and focus on problem solving in the most difficult situations is second-to-none. He is versatile, dedicated and quickly understands the balance of safety, teamwork and getting the packages out. Mike leads our growth opportunities and is one of our best with DRO planning!

Matt Brown

Matt also started with Slicker Trucking as a Driver, moved to a team lead role and was recently appointed to a manager position.  Matt focuses on trucks, drivers and has become a dedicated and trusted liaison with FedEx management. Matt handles all interaction with FedEx and the drivers. Matt is a fantastic partner and a great addition to the management team. Matt’s “jump in and get it done” attitude is positively infectious and not only sets an example to our team but positions Slicker Trucking as a premier operation.

Eric Smith

Eric started with Slicker Trucking as a Linehaul Driver and quickly moved to Lead Driver. Eric oversees our linehaul division and repair shops for both P&D & Linehaul. Eric is talented and a brilliant mind that puts 100% effort and care into his team and the Slicker Operations.
